The Lithuanian language is more than the ability to communicate – it is part of the child’s identity, thinking, and broader understanding of the world. The everyday “home” language is usually enough for basic conversation, but our aim is for the child to grow up with a rich language – to be able not only to speak, but also to read, write, argue, and freely express their thoughts.
For some parents, a fluent command of Lithuanian is a guarantee for the future; for others, it’s a strategic advantage and a broader horizon for their child; and for most, it’s an inseparable part of identity. Language is wealth. Your child will have plenty of time later in life to forget Lithuanian, but if they ever need to recover it, doing so will be considerably harder.
